The Design Museum launches its first Entrepreneurs Hub

Published 7th September 2021

The Design Museum are looking for 15 emerging designer-entrepreneurs or creators with a killer business idea to join its very first Entrepreneurs Hub.

The free 8-week programme will offer participants training in entrepreneurial skills, 1:1 mentoring and exposure to industry leaders to help turn their ideas into viable, sustainable businesses. Applications are open until Monday 13th September.

The Design Museum wants to support designers, creators, makers and aspiring entrepreneurs from underrepresented backgrounds to build their businesses. If that sounds like you then be sure to check out this opportunity.

What to expect from the opportunity

By joining the Hub, you will get weekly masterclasses in creative business skills, one-to-one mentoring from leading designers and entrepreneurs and access to the museum's resources, including a dedicated workspace and library.

Additionally, you will receive personal development coaching to help build confidence and resilience and support in connecting with key industry leaders that are thriving in design.

The programme is open to everyone regardless of age, background or experience. The Design Museum are especially keen to hear from people who may have felt locked out of opportunities to start and grow a business previously. An £800 per month bursary will be offered to participants to help cover the personal costs of taking part.

Everyone interacts with design, and designers should come from every walk of life.

If this is you, then give the application a go!

You are based in the UK and:

  • Have a great idea for a design-based business but aren’t sure where to start

  • Would like to be part of a community of like-minded aspiring entrepreneurs and connected to a host of mentors and experts

  • Are inspired by the Design Museum and excited about being involved in its first full-time programme to support entrepreneurs

  • May have felt locked out of opportunities to explore design and entrepreneurship before

  • Demonstrate ambition, motivation and a growth-mindset

  • Are motivated by thriving creatively and commercially

If you have questions around eligibility, the application process or the programme itself, you can get in touch with the Hub team via email: entrepreneurs.hub@designmuseum.org
